Jeddah Air Quality Monitoring, Coastal & Lagoon Water Quality Monitoring, Sewage
East Lake, Groundwater quality, pest control and management study and setting up of environmental and analytical laboratory for the Municipality of Jeddah

Jeddah is an international city with millions of pilgrims and tourists every year. This city
is also home to almost 4 million populations and is still growing.

Saudi ASMA Environmental Solutions had successfully completed a comprehensive
environmental monitoring program for the Municipality of Jeddah.

The urban environmental monitoring program covered air quality (28 monitoring
stations); coastal & lagoon water quality (43 stations); drinking water quality (11
stations); industrial wastewater & sewage treatment plants’ discharge quality (10
stations).

In addition, Saudi ASMA Environmental Solutions also investigated the impacts of
sewage contamination at the Jeddah East Lake to the city’s surrounding environment:
lake water, groundwater and the air quality. We also investigated the stability of the
dam
retaining the sewage water.

To complete the scope of work, Saudi ASMA Environmental Solutions also performed
an integrated pest control and management study and offered consultancy on setting up of environmental and analytical laboratory.

With our office located in Jeddah, Saudi ASMA is your best total environmental solution
provider.

Air Quality Monitoring Study
In view of the rapid development of the city, the increase in number of motor vehicles
and industrial activities, the Jeddah Municipality has commissioned a preliminary
ambient air quality study.

The main objective of the study is to determine the baseline general levels of air quality
status and the indicative air pollution levels in and around the city.

Saudi ASMA has undertook the study and recommended the appropriate long term air
quality monitoring program.

Water Quality Monitoring
In this scope, our objectives were to verify that the water is suitable for recreational use,
to identify incidences of pollution inputs and as a prompt for rapid appropriate actions, to
assess compliance to statutory requirements and to assess effectiveness of environmental
management strategies.

ASMA conducted coastal and lagoon water quality monitoring along Jeddah coastline, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. ASMA set up a laboratory in Jeddah for the purpose of sample analysis.

Sewage Lake
A part of the sewage of the Jeddah city is treated and disposed in a sewage lake located in
the East of the city.

Our objectives were to sample and analyze surface water, sediment and odor gaseous
pollutants, to determine the environmental status of the lake in relation to the formulation
of the Environmental Master Plan, to assess the contamination of groundwater due to
leaking sewage and to recommend solutions and to recommend technology and/or
techniques which can be applied to reduce the environmental impact of the lake.
