Received Visit From Deputy Mayor of Jeddah,
Saudi Arabia |
Shah Alam, Tuesday,
25 April 2006 – Progressive Impact
Corporation Bhd (PICORP) hosted a one-day
visit by the Deputy Mayor of Jeddah, Engineer
Khalid Akeel and his advisor, Dr Fadil Basyyoni.
In this visit, the guests had the opportunity
to see the operations of PICORP’s
subsidiaries, Alam Sekitar Malaysia Sdn.
Bhd. (ASMA) and ALS Technichem Sdn Bhd (ALS
Malaysia). A dialogue with the Department
of Environment (DOE) Deputy Director General,
Dr. Ir. Shamsudin bin Hj. Ab. Latif between
the Saudi guests was also held to exchange
information on the DOE and Jeddah Municipality’s
challenges on managing the environmental
issues and enforcing environmental requirements.
ASMA is one of the major environmental
monitoring and consultancy company in Malaysia
providing services to the public sector
(particularly for the DOE) and private sectors
(covering energy, petrochemical, general
manufacturing, construction and waste sectors).
In particular, ASMA operates a large network
of continuous and manual ambient air quality
and river water monitoring stations via
a 20 years privatization concession. The
concession also includes operation of the
Environmental Data Centre (EDC) located
at its office in Shah Alam. The guests were
also briefed on ASMA’s key role in
monitoring the environmental conditions
of the Putrajaya Lake and Wetlands.

| ALS Malaysia is one of the
leading analytical laboratory company in this
country specializing in analysis of environmental,
food, microbiological, occupational health
and lubricant testing. In line with the strategy
to diversity its services, ALS Malaysia will
be providing lubricant testing services to
the transportation, construction, mining,
marine, oil & gas and manufacturing sectors.
IC is actively pursuing business opportunities
related to environmental projects in the
Middle East. Recently, ASMA was awarded
an environmental consultancy project by
the Jeddah Municipality to conduct air and
water quality assessment studies at the
international city. Last year, ALS Malaysia
has successfully expanded their operation
into Indonesia and has since secured a number
of environmental laboratory projects from
multinational mining and oil & gas companies.
