A Testament of our Excellence
Following the establishment and implementation of the National Air Quality and River Water Quality Monitoring program, including the successful commissioning of 66 continuous air and water quality monitoring stations throughout Malaysia, ASMA was further entrusted with the tasks of implementing national projects of great significance.
 
Pollution Prevention and Improvement in River Water Quality Program
Establishment of water quality status at the sub-basin level in relation to specific beneficial use and identification of key environmental issues.
Comprehensive inventory of point and non-point sources of pollution including quantification of pollutant loading.
Formulation of management strategies based on the Integrated River Basin Management approach and developed on GIS-based platform that incorporates appropriate water quality models.
 
Island Water Quality Monitoring
Baseline marine water quality monitoring and assessment at 71 islands throughout Malaysia.
Comprehensive inventory of pollution sources and documentation of natural marine resources.
Environmental risk analysis.
Design and development of a Geographical Information System (GIS)-based application.


Putrajaya Wetlands and Lake Monitoring and Reporting Network
Monitoring and assessment of water quality in reference to recreational use and ecological health.
Diurnal and depth profile of key water quality parameters.
Bioaccumulation studies.
Assessment of the performance of the wetlands as a filtration system for a variety of pollutants.
Recommendation of management options based on Best Management Practices.
 
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Study
Joint cooperation between Malaysia’s Department of Environment (DOE) and GTZ of Germany, with ASMA as the technical consultant.
Evaluation of the contribution of motor vehicle emissions to air quality problems in the city of Kuala Lumpur.
Measurements made at various locations on the streets of Kuala Lumpur where the maximum pollution load on pedestrians is anticipated.


Putrajaya Lake & Wetland Management Operation System
Development of an environmental monitoring and decision support system that serves as the main database and spatial analytical tool for the Putrajaya Lake & Wetlands.
An integrated ecological database management system to support the Putrajaya Lake and Wetlands ecological monitoring programme.
An integrated online reporting system.
Design of an action-oriented management system which serves as a tool to guide, alert, assess and manage the daily and routine operations of Putrajaya Lake and Wetlands environment.
